Bobby Togonon
USGTF Level III Member, San Francisco, California

Golf is an international game, and the WGTF and USGTF are the epitome of the worldwide reach of the game. One member who fits that bill, too, is USGTF professional Bobby Togonon.

Born in the Philippines, Bobby was a self-described “army brat” whose father fought with General Douglas MacArthur in the Pacific theater in World War II. Coming to the United States in 1952, Bobby started playing golf in 1958. He has been teaching the game for the past 35 years, and estimates he has given over 35,000 lessons during that time. Today, he has a roster of  approximately 1,000 students in the Bay Area of California, where he lives.

He has given instruction to luminaries such as Sean Connery, Don Ho, and Tom Selleck, and has also taught an international clientele, including 35 people recently from the Middle East. He also can play the game a little bit, having won 12 tournaments over the years in the Bay Area.

Working out of the Mariners Point Academy in Foster City, California, Bobby continues an active teaching schedule at the age of 71. In addition to teaching, Bobby in the past has worked as a model and a drummer, having played with Dean Martin. His fashion sense continues to this day, as Bobby considers it very important to dress well for all occasions – especially when representing the USGTF and the game of golf.
