Dr. Demetrios “Jim” Govostes (aka, The Golf Doctor) is a USGTF Master
Teaching Professional® and examiner currently living and teaching in the Los
Angeles area. Jim went to the University of Miami, where he earned his B.A.
in Political Science and then went to UCLA for his Ph.D. in Political Economics
and a second degree in Computer Science.
Following his education and a year in China working on his thesis, Jim
joined an aerospace firm and was sent to France, where he lived and worked
for 18 years. His passion for golf was renewed while there, and he played
in many amateur events and won the national title sponsored by the Cancer
Research Foundation in France (ARC). Jim was club champion three out of
four years just prior to returning to the U.S.
Once here, Jim decided on a teaching path and achieved USGTF Level III
status in 2005 and USGTF Level IV and examiner status in 2008. He currently
teaches at the Tom Barber facility in Moorpark, California.
