The USGTF Pretenders

USGTF is a member of the World Golf Teachers Federation®

Please be Aware of Poor Copies
With the success and growth of the United States Golf Teachers Federation over the years, there have naturally been several other entities “wanting to be us.” In addition, with the advent of the Internet and the ease of creating websites, these entities promise the world with discounts and guaranteed job opportunities, etc. One entity even goes as far as to say they are "The World's Largest Premier Institution" and "They Are and Always Will Be the Best!" This type of common deceptive marketing, especially to those new to the industry is misleading and harmful to the integrity of the profession. In fact, these organizations are poor copies of the USGTF with virtually no membership base, few benefits and no credibility in the golf teaching industry.

Ask Questions
Many individuals who fall prey to these entities soon realize the error of their ways and as a result contact the USGTF to ask us what we can do about it. Our response unfortunately is to only sympathize with them. Prior to any registration, our suggestion is to ask some basic specific questions like:

  • Do you have an office building?
  • May I see a photo of it?
  • May I see a photo of your office staff?
  • Do you have actual profiles of your office staff that I may read?
  • Can you send me a copy of your member publication?
  • Can you email me your last six monthly member newsletters?
  • Purchasing a Home Study Course? Ask to see photos of the information that will be sent to you.
  • May I review your member personal use programs with all the various major golf manufacturers?
  • Can you share with me 19 years of archived golf teaching articles?

USGTF National Office
If an entity is going to guide your career, hopefully you would want to see a photo of their national office. Our national office in Florida has a full-time staff of 12 individuals and welcomes scores of visiting members to our facility each year. In fact, we try to create a memorable experience for all of our guests.

USGTF Member Publication
Additionally, take a look at our member publication and compare it with that of any other entity. The information within and quality of the publication should immediately alleviate any of your concerns. USGTF and World Golf Teachers Federation members are privy to over 19 years of archived golf teaching related articles available for review. No other entity can make such a claim because no other entity provides current ongoing education like we do.

Teaching Education
To become a fully-certified USGTF golf teaching professional a candidate must undergo approximately 34 hours of teaching curriculum and testing procedures. Candidates receive thorough instruction in teaching all phases of the game, have a sound understanding of the golf swing and it's causes and effects, and have learned proven teaching techniques. All members of the USGTF examination staff have not only undergone extensive training, but have been teaching people how to teach golf around the world for many years.

Furthermore
The words "Certified Golf Teaching Professional®" and "Master Golf Teaching Professional®" are United States federal registered trademarks. The use of these names in any business or promotional marketing other than by USGTF or WGTF members is prohibited.

World Recognized Leader
With the time, effort, expense and pride in attaining your golf teaching certification you definitely want to be affiliated with a legitimate organization recognized worldwide, that can help you grow in the industry.
